Operational

Most of HDR Atmospheric Science Group’s (ASG) personnel started their professional careers performing operational forecasting.  Operational forecasting can be best described as providing forecasts of weather conditions for periods as short as an hour to as far out as 10 days or longer.  The production of weather forecasts involves a number of factors including, first and foremost, an understanding of the scientific processes of atmosphere and how these processes impact potential future conditions.  This comprehension of the atmosphere starts with a sound formal college education.  All five of the Denver-based ASG staff has a Bachelor’s in Atmosphere Sciences/Meteorology and four of the staff has obtained a Masters’ Degree.

HDR ASG Meteorologists have a combined 80 years of forecast experience covering a wide range of forecast needs for clients both in the United States and around the world.  More specifically, forecasts for cloud cover/surface visibility, maximum and minimum daily temperatures, general weather conditions, site-specific quantitative precipitation, site-specific winds and public safety concerns have been provided in a timely manner.  HDR ASG fully leverages their experience and knowledge of the atmosphere from the local to global scale to provide service to a variety of clients including aviation, media (television production/movies/newspapers), construction sites, energy and public safety/emergency management to name a few.
